Microinfusion Facial

Microinfusion treatment at ICON Dermatology & Aesthetics is a non-surgical procedure that combines the advanced technology behind microneedling with the proven benefits of cosmetic injectables.

Microinfusion involves using a tiny micro-channeling device to inject a blend of skin-enhancing ingredients into the superficial layer of the skin.

We use the HydraNeedle device which has 20 hollow stainless-steel needles, each of which is finer in width than a strand of human hair and plated in 24-karat gold. This patented, gold-plated, hair-fine needle system painlessly, safely, and effectively delivers custom solutions into the skin.

How Does Microinfusion Work?

Microinfusion treatment sometimes called a “Botox facial,” involves using a tiny micro-channeling device to stamp a special elixir of strategically blended, skin-enhancing ingredients into the superficial layer of the skin at a precise 600-micron depth. The device is designed so it will not create micro-tears in the skin or cause bleeding. For ultimate safety, the device is used only once on your skin and then is discarded.

The infusion blend is customized to meet each patient's skin’s needs and may include vitamins, antioxidants, growth factors, pigment reducers, Botox, and/or hyaluronic acid gel. Then, the serum infusion is gently stamped into the skin, completely covering the surface of the treatment area at a much shallower depth than that of microneedling. In addition to the serum, the process of creating the tiny punctures with the micro-channels kickstarts the body’s wound-healing response, resulting in increased collagen levels, and boosted cellular turnover.

Benefits of Microinfusion

  • More even skin tone and texture

  • Fades the appearance of dark spots and acne scars

  • Smaller pores

  • Glowing complexion

  • Reduction in fine lines and wrinkles

  • Skin that feels rejuvenated and firm

  • Decreased excess oil

Microinfusion is great for all patients but especially for those who aren't quite ready for Botox or filler injections. The effect is different than having Botox placed in the muscle or filler injected to replenish volume under the skin. The effect of the microinfusion is very different from injectables because it is working at a very superficial micro-level of the skin. Microinfusion works at the superficial dermal level of the skin itself to make your complexion glow and provide a “filter-like” airbrushed effect. The hyaluronic acid filler plumps and hydrates while Botox tightens, reduces redness, oil production, and pore size.

Microinfusion Recovery

There is no downtime with microinfusion. Patients are free to return to their day as normal following their microinfusion treatment. The tiny needles produce very little redness and irritation, but you may notice skin turning pink and being a bit sensitive for 30 to 45 minutes after your treatment.

Results can be seen almost instantly or over the next several days. Your outcome will continue to improve as the micro-injuries stimulate new collagen beneath the surface of the skin.

Post-Treatment Care

Healing from microinfusion may take up to 48 hours depending on the extent of the treatment. You are free to return to work or school immediately after treatment and may wear makeup 24 hours after your treatment.

To avoid possible side effects, all patients need to protect their skin from the sun. After microinfusion, you should:

  • Avoid direct sunlight on the treated skin.

  • Do not use a tanning bed, sun lamp, or any other indoor tanning equipment.

  • Follow your provider’s after-care instructions.

Post-treatment, we recommend applying a physical SPF to the treatment area and continuing to wear a non-chemical SPF 30 or higher daily

What Areas Can Microinfusion Treat?

Microinfusion can be used anywhere on the face, neck, and chest. Many patients choose this treatment to address signs of aging on the décolletage, where wrinkles, dark spots, and other damage are hard to treat.

Microinfusion Treatment Options

Botox

When Botox is infused into the dermis (not the muscle) it acts on the arrector pili muscles in the skin to help control pore size and may reduce oil production.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid increases water absorption in the skin creating intense hydration and plumping of the skin.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that is required for collagen synthesis, encourages the formation of new collagen, and protects your skin from damage. It is also used to brighten skin.

Growth Factors

Growth factors prompt cells to produce components that improve skin firmness and elasticity, strengthen the skin barrier and repair, and rejuvenate skin.

When Can I See Results from Microinfusion treatment?

Microinfusion results can be seen within 1-7 days after treatment and typically last approximately 3-4 months (depending on your lifestyle and overall skin quality). This is an ideal treatment to get a week before a big event. This treatment can be done as often as every 1-3 months, doing several treatments throughout the year will continue to improve long-term skin quality.

Am I A Candidate for Microinfusion?

Microinfustion treatment is perfect for those who want a rejuvenated appearance but are not ready for injectables. The fine needles of the microchannel device are more comfortable than other forms of facial rejuvenation. While this procedure is safe for most skin types, skin tones, and ages, it is not for those who:

  • Are pregnant

  • Have a skin infection

  • Have excess skin inflammation

How is Botox Used Topically?

The microchannel device can deliver small amounts of Botox below the skin surface. In this more diluted and superficial dose, Botox works differently and functions more specifically on the upper layers of the skin for decreased pore size, oil production, and redness. The result is that skin appears smoother and glowing with improved skin tone and pore size.

How Soon Can I Get Another Microinfusion Treatment?

We recommend microinfusion treatments as often as once a month, although most of our patients come in once every two to three months for this treatment.

What is Microinfusion Treatment Like?

During the ICON Boost Infusion facial, the skin will be cleansed followed by a lymphatic drainage procedure to clear impurities from the lymphatic system using light pressure and suction. Next, a microinfusion procedure will be performed creating micro channels to superficial layers of the skin to deliver key customizable ingredients. LED light therapy will be performed after the microinfusion procedure to decrease inflammation increase circulation and stimulate additional collagen and elastin formation. Topical skin care will be applied following light therapy and post-care instructions will be given.

Can I Add Microinfusion to Another Treatment?

Microinfusion is included in our ICON Boost Infusion Facial. You can also choose to add microinfusion to other facials and treatments we offer.
