elluminate laser treatment

We all wish we had perfect skin, but we do not. Time, the environment, and genetics are among the many elements that contribute to the skin imperfections that dull and age our complexion: pigmentation, fine lines, enlarged pores, rosacea and uneven tone and texture. Thankfully, ICON Dermatology & Aesthetics offers remedies to these imperfections.

At ICON Dermatology in North Bethesda, MD, we are happy to offer our patients Elluminate laser treatments. Elluminate is a unique laser treatment that can do even more than traditional laser devices to give your skin a smoother, fresher, more youthful appearance. Elluminate laser treatment with Cartessa’s EVO device targets multiple layers of the skin to erase skin’s browns and reds and stimulates deeper-down collagen to reduce fine lines and improve skins texture. Skin is left more even, radiant, and youthful-looking.

WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT ELLUMINATE LASER TREATMENT?

Many laser devices that are commonly used for cosmetic enhancement incorporate crystals to create the desired beam of energy. Different types of crystals have unique properties that determine the wavelength and bandwidth of the laser’s output beam. The Elluminate device is unlike other lasers because it incorporates four proven and highly effective wavelengths on one elite machine.

  • A 2940nm laser (Erbium-doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnet Er:YAG, addresses signs of facial photoaging, which include wrinkles as well as pigmentation issues and unwanted textural changes. This part is lightly ablative, much like a microlaser peel.

  • A 1064 nm laser (garnet), addresses redness and vascular issues such as rosacea and spider veins.

  • A 755 nm (alexandrite), addresses browns and pigmentation issues from sun damage, etc.

  • A 532 nm (KTP), addresses skin texture issues such as scarring and wrinkles.

Multiple wavelengths target different skin depths to achieve better outcomes than with a traditional single wavelength solution. As the lasers work to correct specific problems, they are also stimulating new, deeper production of collagen to promote healthier new skin. Skin is left more radiant with improved texture and tone.

That means our board-certified dermatologists can use it to treat different types of skin issues at multiple depths, simultaneously. Only the Cartessa’s Suprema laser device, with its multiple laser wavelengths, can create a synergistic effect between the wavelengths in a single treatment to produce impressive results without significant social downtime.

WHAT PARTS OF THE BODY CAN BE TREATED WITH ELLUMINATE LASER?

Elluminate improves skin appearance and condition almost anywhere on the body. That said, we most often recommend it for the face, neck, décolletage, and hands.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR ELLUMINATE LASER TREATMENT?

For the week prior to your Elluminate appointment, you may be advised to stop using any products that contain active ingredients such as glycolic acid, retinol, retin-a, and hydroquinone, but you can resume using them again one week after the treatment.

HOW LONG DOES ELLUMINATE LASER TREATMENT TAKE?

The Elluminate treatment takes only about 30 minutes, and there is no downtime required.

DOES ELLUMINATE LASER TREATMENT HURT?

There are several design features on the EVO laser series that contribute to the comfortable experience and lack of social downtime.  Topical numbing cream is applied pretreatment to allow for a very comfortable experience.

WHAT IS RECOVERY LIKE FOR ELLUMINATE?

Immediately after an Elluminate treatment, the skin will appear slightly red. This dissipates within a few hours to 1 day. Swelling for 1-2 days is possible. You may experience mild pinkness for the following few days. We will send you home with a post-care kit that includes everything you need to keep your skin protected and to help you get the best possible results. Your skin will feel rough for up to one week and you may start to micro-shed in 3-5 days. Brown spots may darken initially before exfoliating away after several days. You will be able to wear mineral makeup the day after the procedure, and of course you must wear sunscreen!

HOW MANY ELLUMINATE TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED

We recommend a series of 3 treatments to achieve maximum results. However, some clients can see great improvement with only one treatment, especially if they combine that with proper use of at-home, medical grade skin care products and, in some cases, other aesthetic treatments designed to maintain good skin health.

Our board-certified dermatologists are excited to be one of the only dermatology practices in the Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC are to offer Elluminate. To learn what this 4-in-1 laser treatment might do for your skin please schedule an appointment online or call us at (301) 810-3600.
